Interesting travel destinations in Eastern Pennsylvania?

Carl L asked:

My fiancee and I like to take weekend road trips. We tend to seek out unusual places like Centralia, Pa. We visited it, and Gettysburg and Kecksburg. We are looking for another interesting spot in driving range of central New Jersey. Southern New York is an option too.

Steamtown USA in Scranton is really cool, and while I have not been to the National Canal Museum or the Crayola Factory in Easton, they both look neat. U.S. Military Academy in West Point (NY) would be neat to visit too. (I think there is a U.S. Mint in that area that you can visit too.) Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown (NY) is awesome.

Yes, Steamtown and the Crayola Factory (12 million crayons a day are produced) are neat. You can see the Delaware Water Gap in Stroudsburg but for a complete history, take the trolley tour, It’s a lot more interesting. You also have the Houdini Museum in Scranton or you can take a coal mine tour come April:

For general meandering through eastern Pennsy, you’ll see some neat sights if you follow old Route 11 north of Scranton to Binghamton, known as The Lackawanna Trail. You can also get PA route 611 in the Poconos south of Scranton and follow it down to Easton. Route 611 parallels the Delaware Water Gap for awhile on the west side.
